The six pack of peak challenge has kick started my peak bagging journey.

I have since been working on the highest County Peaks in Utah (about 25% complete). Along with starting to grab the highest surrounding state peaks (did Humphreys in Arizona last month).

    It's a fun and semi-close by.

The first was taken last year with my dog Luna at the age of six months. She is looking over Flaming Gorge reservoir on the Utah/Wyoming border. This is overlooking a cliff area and I was skeptical about letting her get this close. But she did really well.

The second is my daughter at The Wave hike earlier this year. Me and my daughters were super fortunate to draw very quickly on our applications and were able to see this beautiful area. Such an amazing place on this planet we call home.

The last one is from 20 years ago, before cell phone cameras were a thing. This was taken with a regular 35 millemeter camera while solo hiking The W in Patagonia. Although the photo quality is not where I like it to be, I really enjoyed this moment.

    Cheers to all out there!

Hi, this is Luna and she is 19 months old. Her mom was full black lab and dad was a silver lab. Half the littler silver, half the litter black.

I became a single dad two years ago and the kids and I picked her out. She has gone everywhere with us/me including the Oregon Coast, Southern Utah, Starbucks, the local amusement park, and definitely all the hikes.

    I enjoy seeing everyone’s companions.

I was reading some old posts and ran across this one so I thought I would respond.

This one is kind of obvious as to what it is, but has a lot of meaning.

I traveled a couple times through a good portion of South America and took in a lot of the outdoors. From Patagonia to the Amazon, some crazy times and experiences as a solo traveler and the amazing people who always looked out for someone not their own.

In the Americas I have lived at the very (almost) top in Fairbanks, Alaska, and traveled to the (almost) bottom, in Tierra Del Fuego.

I will most likely eventually add related outdoor items to the sides (e.g. Ice axes, mountains, campfires)

    Cheers to all!

    Hi Christy,

I'm new here but wanted to throw this out there even though your question was asked specifically for women.

I mainly solo hike and have done lots of hikes both here and in South America.

I used to just go for it and was fine. But I became a single dad a couple years ago and started being a bit more cautious. There game changer for me was getting a Zoleo (or any type of satellite device). I now can hit the check in button to my daughter when I'm out of cell service and I also have the option for emergency (evacuation) if needed. My daughter loves the peace of mind knowing that I am always making it home.

Now, if I ever forget the device I almost feel reluctant to venture out. Feeling that is I break an ankle or something semi-minor, I wouldn't have the ability to get assistance.

Just a thought. Its definitely a great peace of mind.

    Cheers!
