Cuyamaca peak

Parked at the entrance parking lot in the State park. Had to pay $10.  Wilderness pass doesn’t work for state parks. Took Azalea loop up

Crisp 44°, beautiful sunshine, great trail going up until the fire road to Lookout Point, nicely paved but steep.

It was a gorgeous day for a solo hike to Cuyamaca Peak! I went up and back the same way – Azalea Glen loop and

I settled on a large loop to do both Cuyamaca and neighboring Japacha peak from Paso Picacho Campgrounds. Starting on the west-side trail. Not recommended:

Unexpectedly rainy throughout and cold and windy at the top. Climb towards the top was challenging. x

Lovely start with a touch of sun peaking through clouds. Fog, mist, and wind increased with elevation. Very windy at peak.
