SUMMARY:Cowles from Lake Murray Blvd
DESCRIPTION:Come out and join us for a workout from a less crowded side of Cowles Mountain! At 1\,592 feet\, Cowles Mountain is the highest point within the City of San Diego. \nPlease be on time – we leave promptly at 6:05 pm\, so arrive early if you need time to prep. \nDo NOT follow your map if it takes you to Rainswept Ln. We start at the dead-end of Lake Murray Blvd. and take the Mesa Road\, meet up with the service road\, and proceed up to Cowles Summit. This is an out and back hike and should take about 2-2.5 hours. \nHikers of all levels are welcome; however\, the average pace of the group is moderate.\nIf you hike at a slower pace you might have to hike on your own until we scoop you up on our way down.\nWe typically regroup at the first two intersections and then spread out till the summit. Once past the first 2 intersections the trail is very easy to follow. \nWell-behaved dogs are welcome but must remain on leash at all times. \nBring: A Headlamp\, water\, shoes with good traction\, hiking poles (optional)\, a snack\, and a fun spirit! Sunset will be 5:43 pm \nDirections to Trailhead: From Route 125\, exit at Navajo and go west; turn right (north) on Lake Murray Blvd. Follow Lake Murray Blvd to the very north end where the street dead ends. \nHope you will join us! \nDistance: Approximately 5.4 miles round trip \nAscent: 1\,122 Ft. \nDIFFICULTY: Moderate
