Man, Mt. Baldy is a BUSY place! Tons of people at the summit and on the trail; thankfully tons of trail etiquette being used too. Amazingly clean trails for how much use they are getting. We had a beautiful day on the mountain up above all the “May Gray” below us on the coast, sunny and warm but not too warm. The devils backbone trail was the highlight of this trip for me, spectacular 360 views looking out to the coast and the desert and a fun section to hike.
Unfortunately, Baldy is a one time trip for me. I'm glad I did it; it was challenging and a good training hike but not a trail I would do again or recommend to anyone. The Baldy Bowl/Ski Hut trail is terrible (in my opinion) and not very scenic or interesting. Overall, glad for the experience and for another good day on the trails.

    1. Not recommended because of the trail conditions. The Baldy Bowl trail is short and steep but a slippery sliding rocky mess. The trail between Baldy Notch and Devils Backbone isn’t a trail but quite literally a ski run, also a rocky mess. I don’t mind difficulty and love a good climb on a good trail. I guess for me the scenery and the summit on this one weren’t enough to compensate for the trail conditions.
