Happy I did this one! It was a fairly easy out and back trail, well marked and maintained.  The trailhead is located in the parking lot for Poway Lake which charges for parking ($10-cash only) so be prepared for that. Also, the gate to the lot closes strictly at 6:00 PM and you will get locked in.  You can park outside of the parking lot but that does add more milage to your hike. We got back just in time but did have to run a good portion of the trail on the way back to make it.  (stressful)  We went on a Saturday which made for a busy trail with Instagramers trying to get the perfect photo on potato chip rock.  The line to get the photos wasn't bad at 20 min but I did hear that sometimes the wait can be 45 min to an hour which to some may be worth it for the opportunity to look as if your hanging off the side of the world!  I also saw some people wearing gucci belts, dress shoes and carrying fancy handbags.  This hike does require water and tennies. Glad I did this one early in the year it would be brutal in the summer months. Also, one last note.  Dont forget to reach the peak summit which is past the chip rock and up towards the right of the end of the trail.   All Trails App logged 8.1 mi, 2,182 ft elevation, 3:57 min of moving time and burned 1,874 calories!  Happy trails!!
