Headed out on the trail around 7am. The first two miles were a breeze. We approached some cool looking trees, then made a right and hiked the next mile until reaching the first 4 corners. We made a hard right and reached the second 4 corners, where the trail started to proceed downhill. i knew eventually we’d get to the tough part and have to go uphill to negate that distance we did downhill
Of course being on a trail named Bear Canyon I worried we’d see a Bear, but none spotted luckily 🙂 There were some patches of pretty flowers and I really felt like i was in the middle of the forest on this hike. Even the ride up to the hike in Cleveland National Forest was great too.
The last .7 mile was the tough part – only tough part of the hike. It was very steep and slippery, but we made it to the top where there were beautiful views. It’s always a pleasure speaking to the people on the trails and that you meet at the top. We soaked those views in, held the sign for some photos, and made our way down the steep part again.
Overall, this trail was a breeze except for the last .7 mile and of course the distance is tiring. This was a nice break for my fifth Six Pack of Peaks hike before El Cajon next week.
