Mt. Tamalpais via Stinson Beach: Shelter in Place makes hiking more difficult
Also on this hike
After having done both Mt. Diablo and Mt. Sizer Summits this was a relatively easy hike; 15 miles with only 2,850 vertical. Â Plenty of parking on Panoramic Highway directly across from the start of the hike. Â Since both the beach and parking lots inside the park were closed due to COVID-19, it was great to have the road parking so convenient. Â Until at the end of the hike on my car was a citation from the sheriff’s department stating that you can not drive to any hikes in Marin County (only walk from your home or bike). Â Thankfully it was only a Warning.
The weather was a cool 52 degrees with a fog layer which impacted the views from above.
However the lower part of the trail (Steep Ravine Trail up and Matt Davis Trail down) was beautiful. Â Both are in the forest with running creeks, mini waterfalls, and moss covered trees and foot bridges. Â Breathtaking!
The next day I discovered a tick that had burrowed into my knee. Â Just a reminder to always check for ticks after a hike.
