I drove down from LA to grab this new peak during the weekday considering how crowded it is reported to be on weekends. Ended up with a later start than I wanted hitting the trail at 8 am. No parking fee at the lake and nice overcast, cool start to the hike. Made it to the top bypassing the photo op at potato chip rock. Didn’t see the need to wait in line with 40 other people for the shot. After a long break at the top headed back down reaching the start at noon. It has been several months since I’ve had a good hike and my legs felt it, but it was wonderful to be out again.
