Cucamonga has a little bit of everything – shade, sun, rocks, sand, and even a cave. When we arrived at the trailhead at 7:30 a.m. the parking lot was already full, so plan accordingly. Love this trail for the gorgeous views and sheer beauty overall. I highly recommend poles because it is a bit rocky. Take a break at Icehouse Saddle to re-engergize for the brutal second half. The section just before summitting sure kicked MY butt, but once I reached top all that was forgotten. Just kidding…the descent was not real easy either, as careful navigation on and around the rocks is needed, plus you're tired and will feel the heat when you start reaching the lower elevations. There's a spring where you can filter water, although some insist that drinking from it directly is ok, too. That said, I'm proud – as always – of our group's achievement!
