What a phenomenal hike for my second SoCal peak. Started around 7am and got to the summit by 10am. Took the ski hut route up as I am not the best scrambler coming down and would recommend going up this way to anyone who isn’t a good scrambler. The summit was gorgeous and not to windy despite 25 mph forecast. There are some incredible stone sculptures to sit behind, eat lunch, and escape the temperatures. I even recommend adding a rock or two to leave your mark. Started back down around 1130 and got to the parking lot by 3. The devils backbone can get sketchy at times but the rush of knowing your in the center of precipitous drops on both sides is slightly exhilarating. The ski lift is running and you can grab food or drinks at the restaurant if time permits. Overall an awesome hike and highly recommend to anyone looking for a great challenge or Whitney training trail!
