Snowfields to cross – could be difficult

Link:

This was pretty standard until about 3/4 of the way up. There is some serious snowfields to cross. We actually lost the trail and pretty much went straight up. Wish we had micro spikes. You will see from the Strava screen shot how we went. We caught the boulder fields and made it to the summit which was pretty much snow free. Was windy and there was about 10 to 15 degree temperature difference. On the way down we lost the trail again in the snow and went east. Slope was super steep on the way down but we gained the trail back and headed down with no problem. the bottom portion of the hike is like walking through some apocalyptic scene. The fire from 2017 devastated the area. That being said be watchful of snags and widow makers. Some of the trees are unstable within that portion of the trail. There is signage at the trailhead. Weather was decent, typical central Oregon, cloudy, rain sunny all within a few hours. Great views from the top of Mt. Washington, 3 Finger Jack and Mt. Jefferson. The Sisters were in clouds.
