Cucamonga Peak challenged me to no end. It was a physical and mental challenge. I suffered a dislocated knee last Fall. I went through physical therapy, but this hike made me realize that my knee will never be the same again. It Is a highly difficult hike that is quite challenging on the knees, especially on the way down. The altitude gain is something my body had trouble adjusting to, so please make sure to hydrate with at least a gallon of water the day prior and take 3-4 liters of water the day of along with a coconut water and spike it with additional electrolytes. We started the hike at 5 AM, but it became increasingly hot throughout the day. Insect repellant is a MUST, as well as trekking poles.
