Before I really started to get into hiking, I've been told it was the highest peak in socal, intense hike, hard hike, & alot of miles. So this hike was on my bucket list before I took the 52 hike challenge. I was on my vacation with 47 hikes in the bag and was looking to bag another peak from just doing Baden-Powell the week before. Still not familiar with the hike I asked someone who has been hiking for a while if they would be intrested in hiking. That person happen to be my priest father chan. I asked if he had the day off and would be interested in hiking, he said yes and asked if I wanted to hike San Gorgonio. Excited, nervous and motivated to do the hike I said Yes. San Gorgonio was set and we got to the trailhead around 7:00am and getting everything ready in our packs. Got all our gear on ready to rock n roll at 7:15am. We started walking towards the creek with a bunch of rocks on the trails as we crossed to get to the trailhead. We were about to start the longest hike I've ever done, climbing the first 2 miles was intense but I was determined. Seeing the sign San Gorgonio wilderness after a 2 mile, 40min climbed motivated me even more. We got to the area were it was all open wilderness with alot of Trees and so relaxing. That walk was calm and beautiful. Then we reached the point where we were about to climb up the mountain. We started climbing and climbing till we reached about 8,000 ft. Took a quick breather and a drink of water and was ready to go again. It was 10:00 and we were gaining a lot of ground. My priest went ahead of me for I needed more time to rest. I got to a area where I had reception so I took a lot of pictures and videos. In one of my videos on snapchat I seen that I was at 10,500 ft. I was shocked how closes I was and it was only a little after 11am. Even more eager to reach the top I had enough rest and started moving. Climbing and climbing like there was no tomorrow I see a sign that says San Gorgonio summit. It was 11:40 and I was about to summit the highest peak in SoCal. Climbed for about 5mins and I seen my priest waiting for me at the top. I pushed and pushed till he was about 50ft away and told me your almost here. Those last 50ft were amazing, overwhelmed with joy I couldn't help but smile as I grabbed the sign and said I did this. This one a Goal I set before I started hiking and i did it. I sat in silence for a minute and took in this beautiful monster. This experience was amazing and it was so great to have climb this mountain. San G was one for the books.
