Started the trail at 5:30am and finished at 9am, this was with a good amount of walking around at the summit. I highly suggest the Fry-Koegel approach, it’s a nice and shaded, beautiful trail right up until you hit the “no longer maintained” sign. Since we were early, there weren’t TOO many people waiting for pictures yet, but we passed on that anyway. We spent our time at the top searching for a survey marker (didn’t find one), then picking up a MASSIVE amount of trash. Such a disappointing summit experience but the hike back down was once again beautiful. I recommend any social hiker bring an extra bag if you do this one, the environment will thank you.
