A day I witnessed my Son crushed many of his demons. He wanted to earn a not so cheap LEGO set. So he agreed to take on this summit to earn it. By the time we got to Devil's Backbone, elevation, leg and feet pain was setting in. But he kept going. He proudly summited but was not in good shape to start the descent. Not only that, we took the very steep Baldy Bowl trail down. His legs and feet were giving out. Despite many tears during our breaks (done ever 50ft) and saying he couldn't do it, he finished on his own two feet. I told him that we don't conquer mountains. We conquer ourselves, and that you did. Take this experience and memory and use it for life when it gets tough. I know you will do just fine. I am one proud Dad.
