Hit Starbucks drive-through on Colorado at 5:00am. Was on the trail by 5:30am. The temperature was perfect for hiking, and although the sun hadn't risen yet, it was light enough that no headlamp was necessary. The sun finally peeked over the shoulder of Tumalo Mountain and the first rays of sunlight hit me at about 6:00 am. Kept climbing. As I got near the summit, two hikers passed me headed back down — the only folks I saw until I started back down around 7:30 am.
Cloudless skies, but a bit hazy. Couldn't see much beyond the Three Sisters. No snow to traverse at all. Lots of wildflowers. No wind until I dropped below the timberline on my return trip.
Total hike time 3.5 hours.
I had forgotten what a great little fitness hike this is. Next time, I'm going to leave early to catch the sunrise from the summit.
