We started on the east side of the peak on the Maiden Lake trail. This trail starts off rd 4660. The turn off of just past Davis lake heading south. the weather was nice, no other hikers going up when we started. Its a nice hike through the forest constantly heading up. It is probably the steeper option but about the same distance, maybe a bit shorter, then the standard route. It gets a bit steeper after the trail turns off. Great views of the cascades and cascade lakes. Trail was in good condition. You could take a side trip to maiden lake if you'd like. We choose to skip it this time.
