Chilly early morning hike to El Cajon Mountain on the first day after rains. I really enjoyed the “you are here” elevation profile signs with the ones at miles 2, 4 and 5 comically daunting as if the trail was strategically matched at this mile markers. But the over 3,500 feet gain is in 4 waves and I found them not difficult on this cool morning. Of course I may have a different experience when warm or hot and in fact the trail is closed in August due to heat. The last quarter mile is a fun scramble similar to Sitton Peak so trekking poles are your hiking pals.

The TH trail name is “El Capitan Trail” not Capital. Thanks auto-correct 🙁
