What a great day to get out for a hike – although rain was projected in my town, the forecast was clear in Fremont.  This was a welcome break from all the craziness of 2020 and the recent election.  This hike was an easy 6 miles so we didn't have to worry about getting back in the dark.  We hiked up Hidden Valley Trail which is a wide gravel road.  The views at this point were not so great as it was pretty foggy.  There were lots of people out which made me feel safer than hiking alone although hiking with a mask on has its challenges as well.

We then took the Peak Trail to the summit.  It's windy and cold at the top so make sure you bring a jacket.  Initially we couldn't see much of a view but gradually the fog lifted.  The “oos” and “ahhs” from the crowd of people at the top as the fog parted was a joyful noise to hear.   We hiked back down the mountain on the Horse Heaven Trail to the Peak Meadow Trail.  This was my favorite part of the hike.  It seemed to be a road less traveled and as the fog continued to lift the view became more incredible.  If you hike this mountain, consider taking this trail the entire time as it was a more interesting trail than the wide path we took up the mountain.   This was a fun hike with a great view of the city.  Since it was a shorter hike we could have brought our kids as well, and dogs are allowed on a leash which would make it a great family outing.
