My first Mount San Jacinto hike. A few patches of ice before the PCT junction but much more and larger after, maybe 20% coverage but enough for traction devices. I expected more ice but I was solo so I paced myself and pretty much took the entire day, starting 45 minutes after sunrise at Marion Mountain trailhead ending 45 minutes before sunset. I only saw 2 other hikers ascend past the PCT. The granite hut near the peak was neat and the guestbook is inside. But after a few 100 feet I didn’t see an obvious trail to the peak (maybe because it’s mostly rock) so I scrambled to a large rock and got lucky that it was the peak.
