I started my hike at 10:08am on the Azalea Glen Trail. This route adds some mileage but this route gets you away from other people and a different view. I hiked this trail until it tied back in with Lookout Rd.
Temperatures were in the low 50’s. Not a cloud in the sky. I dressed in layers and brought a day pack with a change of clothes and water. Just in case. I quickly ditched my sweatshirt as a t-shirt was comfortable. Lookout Rd. was clear to begin with but quickly became covered in snow. A few inches covered the road but it was rapidly melting making parts of the trail slushy. I didn’t find the trail difficult to traverse. I don’t own spikes of any kind and hikes in my trusty Columbia boots.
I hiked a total of 7.14 Miles in 2 hours and 40 minutes with an ascent of 1,934 feet. The summit provides a great view of the surrounding mountains.Â
