Guess what happens when a newbie mechanic doesn't properly refill the front differential on a new-ish Subie Outback? Noise, smoke, and a tow truck…and hike close to home!

My second peak of the year. I was concerned that the parking lot would be full, on such a beautiful day. Being a weekday, it was fine! Many open spaces, and only two cars at the summit parking lot.

70 degrees and it feels like spring! Quite a few people on the trail, despite the open parking lots. I suspect that the mountain bikers did not start the same place that I did. Everybody was friendly, courteous, and 90% of them masked-up when passing on the single track.

I've now done the two closest & easiest of the six. Mission or Diablo is next!
