I decided to try another path to the summit this time as last time there were too many people for my liking. It was a mostly paved  road to the top so I changed into sneakers. Dusk nearing, cool rocks abound, views galore, a chill to the air, and not many others around.  I wanted to enjoy the post sunset glow on the walk down and had a little of time before the sun dipped. Originally planning to avoid the chip, I figured I’d at least watch sunset from the rocks near it. Lo and behold, I had the chip to myself! No line! no mass crowds! The walk down was beautiful as the colors danced over the distant mountains. I busted out my headlamp on the last leg of the descent.
