We got a very early start, and arrived at 8:30. We were concerned that a gorgeous weekend day would cause the parking lots to fill-up early. Parking was wide open when we got there, but was filling quickly.
A beautiful hike, with great weather. We attempted a different route, from the Mountain Theater, but failed to find one that was reasonably direct, and ended-up mostly on the direct route (old railroad grade). We had a leisurely lunch at the top, then headed back down. Great hike.
(If you're up for a longer hike, I recommend starting at the beach, or at Whitegate, for a complete experience, including the ladder and creekbed. (That was my route in previous years!)
