This was my first hike in snow which was quite an adventure. We got to the parking around 9:15 am and there was plenty of parking left. We probably started the actual hike around 10:15/10:30am with our spikes on. Getting to Mt Pinos peak was fairly easy. After getting to the Condor Observation point the trail begins to descend with switch backs. The trail was impossible to navigate without a GPS system, so I brought out my phone and used the Gaia GPS app. This app definitely helped us navigate towards Sawmill. Even with the GPS we had a lot of difficulty finding our way. We also did not bring snow shoes so we kept post holing through this part. We finally summited around 12:30 and had some lunch. the way back was a lot easier to navigate but we still got lost on the switchbacks and ended up going straight up to the Condor Observation point. The whole hike at this point we were completely by ourselves. After this the rest of the hike down there were groups of people hiking and sledding and playing in the snow. And the weather was beautiful!- Not windy, completely clear and sunny and temperature was somewhere in the 50's.
