Beautiful weather, hiked in long sleeve shirt and pants, put on a light jacket at the top when we stopped moving because it was WINDY. Not cold but gusty in morning around 9AM winds traveling east through Tujunga Canyon. By 2/20 there was no snow on the trail, just a few patches off in the shadow of some other peaks. Strawberry peak provides great views down into Tujunga Canyon and Angels Forest Highway to the north, a good look at Mt. San Gabriel, Mt. Disappointment, Mt. Wilson, westbound highway 2, and downtown LA. Could just make out Catalina Island and from the summit and it wasn't a particularly clear day in the valley below. The best views are slightly before and after the peak itself just from foliage surrounding the summit. Head down 20 yards or so on the west side for a nice slope to pop out lunch and look south, or head down east 20 yards for a nice view north.
Enjoyed a sammie, PBR, and the company of a few new friends at the top taking turns photographing each other.
There's an alternate approach from via the Colby Canyon Trail and splitting off eastbound at Josephine Saddle which we opted not to take since we've hiked Colby Canyon up to Josephine Peak and wanted a different view.
