Last time, 2019, I hiked strawberry just as I was making the final steep climb, clouds rolled in, put the peak in a mist and you couldn't see more than couple hundred feet. This year I found out just what I missed – really terrific views! Including a unique Downtown LA view. I could also see for miles and miles the Presidents Monday I hiked. Starting to the East I could see the backside of Baldy, Sugarloaf Mountain that comes out of Big Bear where I went to HS, San G, San Jacinto and the Saddle Back mountains/Santiago Peak closer to home in OC. And of course the LA views, Glendale to further to the West you could trace out Wilshire Blvd with its high-rises.
Nice hike, not too far, steep finish is fun – and if you like getting stuck by yucca this trail is for you, there is lots of yucca on the trail. After the hike I drove down to Original Tommys on Colorado in Eaglerock – and put the calories right back on with a double chilli cheese burger.
