The hardest hike I’ve done to date! Permit station stop at stone creek campground has me started around 7:40. Didn’t finish until almost 6pm. The snow covered scenery was sublime. Spikes for the snow/ ice after mile one. One of my spikes broke and I lost my mask, almost turned back a few times. It was just so serene and pretty though. The last 1.3 miles there was no trail. The wind blew over any prints for many portions or there were random foot prints that were most def off trail. Lots of stopping and nav’ing/ checking maps. Postholing galore. Ice axe came in handy checking for drifts and snow /ice stability as some snow drifts were thigh deep. Exhausting but wildly satisfying. No sign on the top, it was probably snow covered. 2.5 hr drive home especially given it was my 12/12!!
