Given the number of cars parked on S-67 at 11:00 am, I decided to take the Fry-Koegel Trail rather than the more popular and direct service road.  The Fry-Koegel is a an ideal approach to Mount Woodson, skirting the north slope of the  mountain on a fairly level trail until it climbs to join the Lake Poway Trail.  It is very much less travelled (going up I only passed one group going up and a mountain biker and a dog walker coming down).  It is also fairly shaded for the first mile or so with the bushes almost creating a tunnel, and the ceanothus was in bloom.  There were less people up at Potato Chip than I expected; perhaps all those cars on S-67 had started way earlier than I did.  I hung about the peak eating lunch and taking in the 360 degree views.  Unfortunately it was slightly hazy  despite the moderate breeze.  As a result of its popularity,  there was a lot of garbage in the bushes at the top; discarded masks, drink containers, tissue paper of dubious provenance.  I came down the same was but took the Old Fry-Koegel which is slightly shorter and slightly steeper.
