My partner and I enjoyed the dawn view while waiting for our friend to arrive then we all hit the out-and-back trail at 8am. Very well-maintained trail with a steady but not tortuous incline. Lots of trees to provide interspersed shaded areas. Incredible mountains and city view at the summit, it was neat to see San Jose from this vantage point. The old radar station was cool to check out as well. The information posters also informed us that Umunhum is named after the the common Ohlone name for hummingbird, along with a few Ohlone (Amah Mutsun) tribal stories. After eating some snacks we headed back down and finished around noon. Round trip was a little under 8 miles. Didn't encounter too many people, but probably because it was early and a weekday
