This was a wonderful hike. Although a very different experience when hiking early spring versus the summer.  My husband and I did not bring crampons, which thankfully we had boots but much of the trails were covered by snow. However, I want to clarify crampons are a must with snow which I learned very quickly.  I was also grateful that I had my GPS, as fellow hikers including us found ourselves confused at times where the trail actually was. Baden-Powell can be easy to navigate, the switchbacks make it a comfort to know you will run into them going up or down. The snow was very deep at times, falling through up to our knees on occasion. It was not impossible without crampons, but not recommended if your not somewhat an experienced hiker as it would be challenging and really uncomfortable at times. Also learned, waterproof boots do not mean waterproof in the snow. By the time I descended I had very squishy boots! However, in the midst of all the snow, the temperature was quite nice so I was not freezing. It was really cool to experience this hike with snow versus the last time I did it in the summer. I do know to be better prepared next time. It was very slim at only some made it all the way up. Many folks down the way turned back in fear of the snow struggle. It was gorgeous and super happy to have made this my first of 6 in the peaks challenge.
