When I looked up San Jacinto, I found that John Muir said “The view from San Jacinto is the most sublime spectacle to be found anywhere on this earth!” He was right. The hike to the top was so beautiful, it did not feel like a hot SoCal summer day. Temperatures were in the 60's, and we had a glorious cloud cover most of the hike. The area was so green and lush, with the fragrance of the forest luring us around the next bend. When we got almost to the top, we enjoyed looking around the hut, or as I called it the “castle.” I don't know if it was the much appreciated stop, but it felt like luxury. Once bouldering to the top, the views were stunning and encompassing. I am loving this challenge for leading me places I would have never thought to go, but now I can't imagine not having been.
