We hit the trail early, at 6:00, as the trail up Icehouse Canyon is fairly crowded. The trail is rocky for the first mile or two, but follows a lovely creek. It's a nice steady climb on switchbacks up to the saddle, where the trail gives way to great views and a few different trail options. From the saddle to Cucamonga Peak the trail the trail is single track right at the edge of the mountain with some steep sections where you scramble a bit up the rocks, not my favorite kind of trail. Still, we were above the clouds and the view was fantastic along this stretch. The last mile feels like three miles – very steep, with the summit being not much to look at, but offering welcome shade for a little break before the hike down. Another awesome hike.
