We had a little too much to drink in Idyllwild the night before and then camped. Late start for us due to slight hangover. We got going and didn't really struggle until the last mile. As we summited the rangers were taking down the broken sign. I was not upset, but a few people were. A lot of people at the peak. Eek! Due to our late start, I felt rushed to get down this seemingly never-ending mountain to get back to the sitter. I was not mindful of how I was going and I injured myself — still have a knot in my glute which causes lower back pain when I hike. I finally decided to rest after attempting to do this hike again yesterday, but cut it short (7 miles) due to pain and also not wanting to make things worse. I am scheduled for Mt Whitney August 22 and decided to crosstrain until then. I am in very good shape and my feet are like shiny wood in areas that used to callous.
I loved Idyllwild. I met Mayor Max last weekend (in case you didn't know, he is a Golden Retriever).
