5/16/2021. Cold & windy most of the time but so glad the sun was up. Saw thick, gray clouds over San Gabriel Mtns on our way to Sawmill & thought to prepare for a wet/cloudy/windy/cold hike but to our surprise we were blessed to have the opposite condition except for the cold-ness. Layering always does the trick. The trail offered beautiful scenery of meadows, pine tree-filled forest and an expansive view of the surrounding mountains. So much photo op from the trailhead to the summit- just spectacular views. The thick white clouds hovering at the peak made for a delightful hiking photo op. Will be back and this time will do the 3-2-1 challenge and perhaps do an overnight car camping as the drive to and from San Diego is very long 🙂
