Hiked from Vincent Gap to Baden-Powell on Saturday May 22nd. Plenty of available spaces in the parking lot when we arrived around 7 AM.

The hike was 8.1 miles and just under 3000 ft. elevation gain. Temperatures were in the low 40's, it was freaking cold ! Needed to put on our jackets and gloves.  The climb starts right away, so I got a bit winded. But after that, it's a gradual incline up until the last half a mile before the summit, where there is a final steep section. There are about 40 switchbacks in all. On the far end of the ridge, but before the final climb to the summit, you’ll see the gnarled and twisted roots of the Wally Waldron tree. This 1,500 year old limber pine is said to be the oldest in the San Gabriel mountains, and named for a noted Boy Scout leader and volunteer.
