My first peak for the challenge, and what a doozy it was! A real reminder of the beauty on offer throughout SoCal.
Arrived at 6am on Saturday morning to a completely filled lot and had to park a good half mile away. I was told by other hikers that this is pretty typical for a weekend, though am sure business was amplified being Memorial Day long weekend.
A challenging hike, particularly after Icehouse Saddle, but worth it for breathtaking views. The hard yards were rewarded with lunch, sitting on a boulder, overlooking a sea of clouds far below. Just stunning. Just brace yourself to sweat. Carried 5 liters of water (just in case), but drank around 3.
Friendly hikers, but a thin, busy trail, so be prepared for a lot of fancy footwork to maneuver around others.
A challenging and beautiful hike. One of my favorites near LA so far.
