Hiked on 2/21/21. 7.2 miles, 1,768 ft. elevation gain. Hike took 3:46. Would highly recommend doing this one on a clear day, because the views from the summit into the Los Angeles basin on this day were beautiful. If you hike slightly past the summit, there’s a great area to eat lunch (or breakfast, as this one can get crowded mid-day!). I hiked this in late February, while there was plenty of snow on the higher LA-area mountains, but no snow to be found on this one at a lower elevation. The first 2.7 miles are a very easy, gradual climb, while the last 0.9 is where the hike gets tough. That being said, all in all this is probably the easiest of the six-pack selection this year, and a good prep hike for some of the harder hikes on the list. Would also highly recommend taking a drive on the Angeles Crest Highway, for some great views into the Mojave Desert and surrounding mountains.
