Very pretty hike with a great payoff at the top. Aga and I went on a Sunday and found it less crowded than expected – still plenty of parking at 7:45am, but it filled up later. After hiking Mt Cucamonga a couple weeks before, this one felt quick and easy.
Details:
–Wore hiking pants and sleeveless shirt most of the way on a warm day. While shorts might have been nice at lower altitudes, I was fairly comfortable and happy I had on pants at the top.
–My app shows 3:46 of move time and with our time stopping and enjoying views, we were on the mountain ~4:15-4:30 all in. My app shows 26:48 avg pace and 8.4 miles (though this seems higher than reported trail length). [It also tracked 1,962 calories and 2,825 ft elev gain – since we know the gain is off, the calories are also dubious!).
–Didn't drink as much water as I expected – only about half of my 1.5 L bladder and about half of a 20 oz Gatorlyte, though I drank before and after as well. Snacks: just some dried mango and a mix of pretzels/almonds/M&Ms.
