Wow, this was an extremely difficult hike. The mountain was shut down due to wildfires a week later, so I felt very fortunate to get it in. This was most definitely the hardest hike I've done to date. Every step had to be carefully placed because the path is filled with rocks and roots. Also, the trail dies out about 1/4 mile from the peak and you have to scramble over huge boulders to get there. I was not expecting that! I also was not expecting the guy dressed in a T-Rex suit at the peak, so you never know what you'll get in hiking. 🙂 I camped at a nearby campground the night before so I wouldn't have the long drive to the trailhead. It was quite hot–I went through most of my 4L of water. I felt very accomplished and proud after this hike.
