I’ve done San Gorgonio from Vivian Creek in the past, but this time there were no more permits available for Vivian Creek for the 14th. Completing the trail from South Fork made for a really beautiful hike though. It still felt brutal to complete, but having a nice view and good weather made the hike more bearable. The weather was cool for most of the hike. As we got closer to the peak though, it started drizzling and it was windy so it felt chilly. Hiking through the drizzle for a long period of time almost felt the same as having a full rain. My clothes and pack got a good soaking. Along the tail there’s a large tree that blocks the path. There’s no going over or under it. I had to go around while also avoiding the thorn bushes. Speaking of thorn bushes, I’d recommend wearing long pants for this trail. There are some narrow areas where thorn bushes intrude into the path.
