Hiked Mount Wilson via the old Mount Wilson Trail. Started the hike way too late at 7:45am. There was no cloud cover and the temperatures were very hot and energy draining. Spent 1:30 at the summit before heading back down. The summit has full service restrooms which are clean and nice. We encountered a small bear at the summit, but the Mt. Wilson Staff chased it off. The issue encountered while hiking Wilson is it is very crowded and you'll encounter hoards of trail runners who are completely ignorant of any form of hiking etiquette and right of way, large hiking groups and families moving at an extremely slow pace, people packed like they're going on an expedition, mountain bikers, and people taking a dump in the middle of the trail. The heat really did this one in for me. It made the hike feel way harder than I expected. I was also sad that the city of Sierra Madre got rid of the disappointed dog face sign requesting dog owners clean up after their dogs at the start of the trail. It has now been replaced with a sign of 4 dogs silhouetted with the same message. I always got a kick out of the old sign. Returned to the car around 5:40pm so it ended up being a long day.
