This was one for the books – we started at the wrong trailhead (oops!), but the extra 2 miles we went were the prettiest part of the hike. We crossed streams on the way up, and fields of wildflowers. A thunderstorm rolled in as we got close to the top, and we quickly took pictures to get back below the tree line before the lightning, thunder, and HAIL started. It poured the whole way down, and there was water above our ankles most of the way. The streams we crossed earlier were quickly becoming rivers, so my daddy had to carry me across. I clutched my mom's hand the entire way down, and I'm scared every time I hear thunder now!
