I signed up for the Six Pack of Peaks with one of my closest friends and old roommates (Kristina). This was the first peak we tackled. We arrived at 6:15am and got the last parking spot by the trailhead. If you’re doing this hike I highly recommend arriving early! The weather was perfect, clear skies and sunny, but not too hot. The trail was a gradual incline at first and got steeper towards the end. I definitely felt it in my thighs and hip the last 3 miles. It was by far one of the prettiest trails I’ve hiked in SoCal, tons of trees and shade, rivers and waterfalls. On the way down we took the alternate route that was an extra mile and ran into two mountain lions! We got lucky that they rolled down onto the trail behind us and not in front or on top of us. There are signs and warnings on this trail for mountain lions so watch out for that. Overall, it was a great start to the Six Pack. We walked 18.4 miles in total and it took us around 9 hours including stops for lunch and breaks.
