The first 2 miles are easy-peasy, especially when it's 8:00am and you're mostly still in full shade. Then you pay the price during the last mile-ish. Somewhere around the 3 mile point, those #$%@ bees come into play… Got stung twice. People ahead and behind me did as well. But the sweeping views are there at the summit. Met some other 6-Pack hikers, and wound up going down with Scott and Bobby Jo. Somehow I took point and flushed out the critters. On the way down, I thought I'd be smart and put on bug-repellant before the bee-zone. Fat lot of good that did. Stung twice more. Geez! Shortly thereafter, had a rattlesnake rattle his tail as he slithered off into the brush. The others didn't encounter any of this! Glad I could take one for the 6-Pack Family! Definitely this time of year you need to keep an eagle-eye out for those fellas! Once back at the trailhead, there was a huge road-bicyclists picnic going on by the parking lot, and those people were nice enough to offer up bottles of cold water! Next year I'll do this hike in January. haha
