Well, what can I say? My sixth peak (that counts) and the most difficult one yet due to conditions. We were going to hike Sitton but 4 mins before the trailhead they closed the road so we decided on a whim to do San Jacinto. My determination to finish my last peak won over my common sense. We started late at 9:30 am and did not expect so much snow so we shared gloves, clothes and food. It took us 11 hours and we were miserable coming down in the dark and cold. My friend even lost her iPhone because she fell so many times but we got back to the car safely and that’s all that matters. The mountain is beautiful and the snow made it extra special but we needed to start at least 3 hours earlier than we did.

  1. Wow! Change from Sitton Peak to San Jacinto is the mother of change in plans! I did Sitton last week and went to San Jacinto via the air tram this Saturday to try out snow gear, and the trails are night and day, especially so with the snow/ice/slush combination, but even in dry conditions the hikes are at opposite spectrum of difficulty!

RIP to your friend’s iPhone 🙁

    1. Thank you Joyce!
Yes, night and day indeed.. but I was determined to get it done. The conditions definitely took us out of our comfort zone to say the least but we finished .
