We arrived at the almost full parking lot at 6:30 am. We went the counterclockwise route and avoided some of the crowd. Weather was great. We think half of L.A. was up there this Saturday, but everyone is friendly. Took 7 hours round trip. The Devils Backbone was the highlight of the trek. Great views! My only complaint is that the trail gets so much traffic on the loose rock of the upper areas that the trails are quite loose and slippery from all the hikers. The downhill was a bit technical as we had to pick our steps carefully for most of the steep desent.
