We started of early, and thought it would get busy on the trail. It was dark and I got creeped out by the bear country signs and seeing 2 sets of beady eyes staring at us from their nest.
That was pretty much all that we encountered on the trail. At the peak we saw other people who came from other trail heads, but no one on south fork. There were obstacles of fallen down trees and some of them are pretty large, some snowy patches but nothing you needed special gear for.
near the end of the trail (on our descend) is when we encountered some people but they were headed to the cabins. Nobody as crazy as us to go to the peak.
