After my friend cancelled on me at 4am, I decided to continue on with the hike solo. This is now the second peak I've done alone and I truly enjoy the solitude that comes along with it. Of course, this leads to a bunch of selfies and practicing my self timer skills at the top!
I started around 8am and finished in approx. 4 hours. The trail was super easy to follow, until the top… there's a quick turn off that's easy to miss (good thing I read tips on where to look for it so I didn't!). From there, the ascent to the peak is steep and the trail is hard to follow. I ended up off trail for a bit, wandering around the boulers completely lost, but thanks to Gaia GPS I found my way back (thanks SPOP for offering the free trial!!!!)
LOOK FOR THE PINK RIBBONS THAT MARK THE TRAIL!
The top opened up to gorgeous 360 views and a perfectly shaped boulder made a great lounging spot for a longer than usual lunch break. After descending I popped into the candy shop where the clerk, Shannon, was so sweet to gift me a free root beer float as their card machine was down and I didn't have cash. I haven't had one of those since I was a kid, what a treat!!!! Overall a gorgeous hike that I will surely be doing again!
