Today was a great day for a hike with dry weather and relatively mild temperatures (for this time of year). There were about 35 cars in the parking lot when we started around 12:30pm and the hike did not feel busy or crowded. The trail was in good shape and we did not see any snow at all until we were virtually at the top. The final 50 feet or so required walking on slippery compact snow/ice. I was glad to have poles with me but we did not feel the need to get our spikes out of my our bags. It’s nice to have the first of these hikes in the books!
